Comme le suggère le nom de l'acide, il va facilement se lier au gel et à la résine. L'hydrogène va légèrement ronger la surface de l'ongle naturel et lui donner un aspect irrégulier sur lequel le produit va s'acrocher. L'acidité permet aussi de casser une partie des molécules grasses qui s'y trouvent. Un primer acide crée donc une adhésion chimique et mécanique.<br /> Ce type de primer est irritant, il doit être correctement dosé et ne jamais toucher les peaux.<br /> <br /> Un primer sans acide agit comme du scotch double face. Il contient des esters (généralement acétate d'ethyl et métacrylate) qui se lient à la fois avec la kératine et avec l'acrylique.
